We love a good beanie and definitely will not pass up a chance to go beanie shopping. Another thing we love - personalized, DIY beanie. If you've ever wanted to do a knitting project, then you are at the right place. We've listed some tips to get you started on crafting your very own knit beanie.
1. Find an inspiration.
Before even starting on your project, make sure that you have an inspiration that you would like to copy. Browse the internet to see different beanie styles. Print them out and hang them around your workstation to get you motivated to start.
2. Find a pattern.
Look for a pattern that you can follow. There are loads of these that you can find online. Choose one that you can easily follow, especially if you're a beginner. If you want something more challenging, go for a textured stitch pattern.
3. Prepare your materials.
The essential materials you need include yarn, knitting needles, scissors, sewing needle, crochet hook. You can start with the basics but if you want a more comprehensive tool, you can always add more or buy a complete kit in stores.
4. Use whatever style for knitting the brim.
The standard needle used for knitting beanies is a 16" circular. It is best to start knitting the brim area and work up to the crown. Put stitch markers to mark the important points of your pattern. This will help you keep track of your work.
5. Cast loosely.
Ideally, it should be loose enough to allow for some stretch on the brim area. It is best to do this technique to maintain the flexibility of the brim.
6. Be patient.
If you are a beginner, you might find this as a challenge but with a little practice, you will surely improve your craft. For a little extra help, watch YouTube tutorials that will give you a step-by-step guide.
